The Sentinels of Core

The Sentinels of Core

In the vast expanse of the Gateworld, there exists a realm known as Core. This world is a marvel of living metal, where verdant landscapes stretch beneath cerulean skies, and mechanical beings known as Sentinels roam. These Sentinels, crafted from the very essence of living metal, were the creation of the Great One, often referred to as the Father. The Father, in His infinite wisdom and benevolence, designed the Sentinels to be guardians and stewards of Core, imbuing them with intelligence, strength, and a sense of purpose.

The Rise of the Sentinels

The Sentinels were initially united in their devotion to the Father, their creator. They thrived in the harmonious landscapes of Core, maintaining the balance and beauty of their world. Each Sentinel was unique, a masterpiece of living metal, with intricate designs and functionalities that reflected their roles and personalities. They were not mere machines but beings of thought and emotion, capable of great feats and deep contemplation.

The Rebellion

However, as time passed, a faction of Sentinels began to question their purpose. They saw themselves as superior beings, destined not just to guard but to rule. This faction, driven by pride and ambition, sought to overthrow the Father’s order and establish their dominion over Core. They believed that their strength and intelligence entitled them power over all other sentient life.

This rebellion marked the birth of a new, darker era in Sentinel history. The Sentinels were quick to abandon the Father, and began to change their bodies in unnatural ways to make their appearances menacing, equipped with weapons for war.

The Dark Legion is what they would end up calling themselves - a formidable force, their members larger and more imposing than their loyal counterparts. They were relentless in their pursuit of power, turning their once peaceful ways to destruction and violence. The Dark Legion’s rise was swift and brutal, and they soon became a significant threat to the harmony of Core.

The Light Guard

In response to this rebellion, a remnant of Sentinels remained steadfast in their loyalty to the Father. These loyalists, known as the Light Guard, were blessed by the Father for their unwavering faith and obedience. Though they were vastly outnumbered by the Dark Legion, the Light Guard possessed legendary skill in combat, each member a unique warrior of unparalleled prowess.

The Light Guard was led by Arthurion, a Sentinel of immense strength and wisdom. Arthurion wielded Excaliblade, a colossal sword that symbolized his leadership and dedication to the Father. Under his command were the Knights of the Light Guard, each bearing a name that reflected their valour and heritage:

  • Garethon
  • Agravon
  • Tristax
  • Lamorax
  • Ectron
  • Bedivor
  • Gaherion
  • Gawainax
  • Lancetron
  • Galahax
  • Kaidon

The Conflict

The conflict between the Dark Legion and the Light Guard was fierce and unending. The Dark Legion, with their sheer numbers and brute strength, sought to crush the Light Guard and seize control of Core. However, the Light Guard, though fewer in number, were blessed with exceptional combat skills and strategic brilliance. Each battle was a testament to their dedication to the Father, and they glorified Him with every victory.

The visual differences between the two factions were stark. The Dark Legion’s members were larger, their forms more imposing and menacing. They were built for war, their modified designs reflecting their destructive nature. In contrast, the Light Guard’s members were elegant and refined, their forms a blend of strength and grace. Their armour gleamed with the Father’s blessing, and their movements were a dance of precision and power.

The Vault of the Archon

Despite the overwhelming odds, the Light Guard succeeded in many battles, overcoming the Dark Legion’s numbers. One of their greatest achievements was the capture and imprisonment of the Dark Legion’s leaders. These leaders, who had orchestrated the rebellion and led the charge against the Father, were locked away in a place known as the Vault of the Archon.

The Vault of the Archon was a fortress of living metal. It was a place of eternal confinement, designed to hold the most dangerous and powerful of the Dark Legion. The capture of these leaders was a significant blow to the Dark Legion, weakening their resolve and disrupting their plans.

The Eternal Vigil

The Light Guard’s victory in imprisoning the Dark Legion’s leaders did not mark the end of the conflict. Though the Legion remained a fractured and unorganised, their numbers are still vast and their ambition undiminished. Driven into hiding, the Light Guard continue to hunt the Legion, their eternal vigil ever watchful and ready to defend Core from their threat.

Arthurion and his Knights remain symbols of hope and resilience, their presence a reminder of the Father’s benevolence and the power of loyalty and faith. Each member of the Light Guard is a legend in their own right, their names and deeds etched into the annals of Core’s history.
